University of California, Santa Cruz • Long Range Development Plan Campus Engineering Water Audit (2026), CA

MWM partnered with the University of California, Santa Cruz to build upon the university’s 2007 water efficiency audit. As part of this 2025 project, MWM evaluated the campus’s progress since the previous water audit and identified new high-impact water efficiency and conservation opportunities aimed at further reducing potable water use across campus. Between 2007 and 2012, UC Santa Cruz reduced campus water demand by more than 15%, exceeding the savings projected in the 2007 survey. Building on this success, the 2025 Audit identified 16 additional high-priority water efficiency projects and operational practices that can be implemented across multiple campus departments to strengthen and expand UC Santa Cruz’s long-term water conservation framework.
