City of Santa Barbara • Water Conservation Strategic Plan (2026), CA

MWM partnered with the City of Santa Barbara to update the City’s Water Conservation Strategic Plan to guide long‑term water use efficiency, support compliance with evolving state regulations, and ensure that water conservation remains a reliable and cost‑effective component of the City’s water supply portfolio. The updated Plan evaluated community water use patterns, identified additional conservation opportunities, and developed a recommended portfolio of programs that balance water savings, equity, cost, and implementation feasibility. The recommended program is projected to save approximately 984 acre‑feet per year (AFY) by 2050, equivalent to roughly nine percent of the City’s current annual water demand. The Plan includes a cost-effective suite of water conservation measures designed to help the City meet future water needs while adapting to changing demand conditions, evolving conservation priorities, and statewide water efficiency requirements.
