Department of Water Resources – CII Best Management Practices White Paper related to the CA Urban Water Use Objective, 2022

MWM prepared a technical white paper to provide recommendations for the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) and statewide water suppliers on Commercial, Industrial, and Institutional (CII) best management practices (BMPs) in support of California’s 2018 “Making Water Conservation a California Way of Life” mandate. The technical white paper serves as a menu of CII BMP options for suppliers to implement based on unique CII water use and conservation potential in their service areas. The paper includes both technical and financially feasible recommendations to address the challenges of water efficiency in the CII water sector, while providing strategies for leveraging the BMPs based on varying agency characteristics. Principal authors Lisa Maddaus and Michelle Maddaus prepared the technical white paper in close collaboration with DWR staff for inclusion in a Legislative Report to be submitted to the State Water Resources Control Board.
