The Water Research Foundation, Advanced Metering Infrastructure Workshop: Better Use of the Systems and Data, 2025
Organization: The Water Research Foundation
Co-author/Contributor: Maddaus Water Management
MWM teamed with Arcadis to provide subject matter expertise on Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), conduct research and participant studies, and facilitate workshops focused on advancing the use of AMI systems and data within the water industry. MWM supported the project through stakeholder meetings and outreach, technical analysis for workshop and report materials, workshop debrief discussions, and development of the final report. The primary objective of this research project was to create a collaborative forum where water utilities could share experiences, opportunities, and challenges with utilizing AMI systems and data to address complex water utility business needs. Through the forum, participating utilities gained insight into AMI implementation strategies and explored the evolving “art of the possible” from leading AMI technology providers. The project also helped to identify key opportunities for future research and innovation. The project was conducted in collaboration with the Water Research Foundation (WRF), a leading research organization advancing the science of water to support the evolving needs of the water sector. AMI technologies have become widely adopted across the water industry over the past decade and are recognized as the leading technology for modern water meter reading and data management.
