East Bay Municipal Utility District, WaterSmart Guidebook for Businesses Technical Update, 2025

A team of Maddaus Water Management (MWM) staff and experts reviewed the East Bay Municipal Utility District’s (EBMUD’s) WaterSmart Guidebook for Business, revising or rewriting each chapter to update the guidebook in alignment with industry standards and water using technologies. MWM added three new chapters including one on cost considerations that helped to define methodologies to calculate payback periods for equipment upgrades. Other new chapters were on data (primarily Advanced Metering Infrastructure), and a chapter to address the cannabis industry. Some chapters were entirely rewritten or largely updated for legislation, regulations and recommendations that changed since the previous Guidebook release in 2014. The EBMUD Team worked closely with MWM and was responsible for final review, formatting, compilation, design, and release.
