Metropolitan Water District of Southern California • 2021 Water Tomorrow: Integrated Water Resources Plan - Expert Panel Peer Review

In 2020 the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) initiated an Integrated Water Resources Planning Process to address multiple threats to the region’s water future including climate change, natural disasters, and regulatory requirements. The planning process included coordination with 26 MWD member agencies.

Lisa Maddaus served on a technical advisory panel as one of five expert consultants enlisted to share insights on key influences of future water demands in Southern California. Lisa met with the Integrated Water Resources Plan modeling team, provided comments on the framework of planning scenarios and modeling approaches and engaged in detailed discussions of how the algorithms were structured. She reviewed both original modeling data sources in 2020 and revised the demand data assumptions provided in June 2021. Lisa served as a presenter and expert consultant and answered questions during a three-hour Metropolitan Board Workshop in March 2021.
